Manage data with Grid

DEX Grid is a fully-featured interactive data table. This section describes how to manage data and data columns in Grid

Change column name

To change the column name:
Column header
Column management menu
To change the column name from the column header:
  1. 1.
    Click on the name.
  2. 2.
    Edit the name.
  3. 3.
    Click enter.
To change the name from the Column Management menu:
  1. 1.
    Click on the
    icon above the table to open the menu
  2. 2.
    Click on the name.
  3. 3.
    Edit the name.
  4. 4.
    Click enter.
The column name will not be changed in the original dataset.

Change column display format

To change the display format of a column:

  1. 1.
    Click on the column drop-down menu.
  2. 2.
    Select Change format.
  3. 3.
    Pick the new column format.

To clear display formatting for a column:

  1. 1.
    Click on the column drop-down menu.
  2. 2.
    Select Change format.
  3. 3.
    Select Clear format.

Currently supported formats

  • For numeric columns:
    • Scientific
    • Percentage
    • Currency (USD, Euro)
Changing the display format will not make changes to the underlying data or affect statistics.

Reorder columns

To change the column order:
  1. 1.
    Click on the
    icon in the Grid menu.
  2. 2.
    Click on the
    handle beside any column name and drag it to the desired position.

Show & Hide columns

To show or hide columns:
  1. 1.
    Click on the
    icon in the Grid menu.
  2. 2.
    Find the column you want to change.
  3. 3.
    Toggle the
    icon to show/hide the column.

Change column type

To change the column data type:
Column header
Column management menu
To change the column data type from the column header:
  1. 1.
    Click on the data type indicator (ex.
    ) next to the column name in the column header.
  2. 2.
    Select the new data type.
To change the name from the Column Management menu:
  1. 1.
    Click on the
    icon above the table to open the menu.
  2. 2.
    Click on the data type indicator (ex.
    ) next to the column name.
  3. 3.
    Select the new data type.

Freeze column

To freeze a column so that it does not move when you scroll:
  1. 1.
    Click on the
    icon in the Grid menu.
  2. 2.
    Find the column you want to freeze.
  3. 3.
    Click on the
    icon.

Change column aggregation

At the bottom of each column, you will find an aggregated summary of the column.
To change the aggregation function used:
  1. 1.
    Click on the aggregation drop down menu.
  2. 2.
    Pick a new aggregation function (ex. AVG).

Resize columns

To resize columns in the grid:
Hover over the column border in the header or footer until the
appears and then drag the border to resize the column.
